
Abrasive Wheels
½ Day Training Course
This course is designed to train delegates in safe selection, mounting and working practices when using abrasive wheels, in accordance with the relevant regulations and guidance.
This course embraces the requirements under The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER 98) and HASWA 1974. Covering selection, mounting and the safe working practices when using abrasive wheels. The machines discussed are the angle grinder, chop saw, petrol cutter (Stihl Saw) and bench grinders.

Identifying risks from working with Abrasive Wheels
Wheel types 1, 27, 41 & 42 (markings and specification)
Inspection of equipment
Safe use of equipment with a wheel mounting practical
Safe storage and transportation

Practical assessment is on-going by the instructor, culminating with a written test. This qualification does not expire, but refresher training and keeping up to date with changes to policies and procedures is vital to keep the qualification current.

A maximum of 12 students are allowed on the course and must be a minimum of 14 years of age. A certificate can be offered to all, subject to assessment.
